Country Kitchen Furniture:

Where to Find Furniture for a Country Kitchen Decor

Custom Search

Country kitchen furniture can be hard to track down, at least the good antique stuff anyway. For a full guide on the best places to find antique country furniture, keep reading.

Flea Market Vendors

Flea markets are a great place to find reasonably priced antiques and older items. Look for markets in rural or out-of-the-way areas to find more authentic “country” pieces.

It also helps to have an idea of what you’re looking for before you head out flea market shopping.

For example, if you want a Shaker style kitchen table, you know what you’re looking for.

You can also ask sellers if they have or know anyone who has that particular item, but maybe doesn’t have it at the flea market that day.

Craigslist Ads

Craigslist is a great way to find country kitchen furniture at great prices. Most of the people listing furniture for sale are either independent sellers getting rid of their own stuff or antique furniture dealers who have some fantastic finds.

With online classifieds site, never send money over the Internet. Always go to see the item and pick it up yourself.

Alternatively, shop through eBay where you can be protected by PayPal and eBay buyer protection policies.

When purchasing country kitchen furniture on auction sites, don’t be afraid to ask for more pictures and always be aware of shipping charges.

Trust me, shipping a kitchen armoire or old-style kitchen helper/buffet server across the country is expensive. The piece may be beautiful, but for $400 in shipping expenses, it’s probably not worth it.

Garage Sale Finds

Rural or country garage sales are great places to find country kitchen furniture. Plan ahead by ordering companies of rural newspapers for the Friday before a weekend or, better yet, visit their website if they post their classified ads online.

Then, map out a route to hit as many country garage or lawn sales in one day as you possible can.

Also, keep your eyes open for mile-long garage sales and other events that tend to attract both a lot of buyers, but also a lot of great sellers.

Auctions

Auctions, particularly estate auctions, are excellent sources for country kitchen furniture.

If you’re really interested in collecting pieces, subscribe to all the local newspapers in nearby rural areas within, say, a 50-150 mile radius. It’s easier to keep track of estate sales and on-site auctions that way.

Antique Markets and Antique Dealers

An antique market or antique seller is probably your best bet for finding that perfect Quaker chair or fantastic turn of the century kitchen stool.

Dealers can also help you identify and authenticate period pieces if you’re going for that true country kitchen furniture look.
