Kathy Ireland Furniture is the hallmark product of Kathy Ireland. Vanguard Furniture introduced the Kathy Ireland Home Collection at the Fall International Home Furnishing Market in 1999 and the line has been a hit ever since.
Who is Kathy Ireland?
Kathy Ireland Furniture is inspired by Kathy Ireland, but who is she? She’s a model and has appeared on - among others - the front covers of Glamour, Cosmopolitan, McCalls, People, Redbook, Golf Digest Women and a record three times on Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
What is the furniture like?
Kathy Ireland claims the collection of furniture is inspired by her travels and her visits to England, her father's birthplace.
The architecture, the elegance and beauty of the homes and properties she visited remained with her and were called forth when she began working with a design team on the collection.
The furniture is as very low key. It's designed for a casual lifestyle, but the upholstery is treated to elegant fabrics, while some of the tables and chests could live an elegant life if one so desired. It’s a nice balance between quality and comfort.
Comfortable Style for Fine Homes
The Kathy Ireland Furniture collection is an eclectic collection with big, comfortable chairs in practical, wear-well fabrics, sofas you could lie down on to watch television, coffee tables that almost demand you put your feet up, side tables generous enough for a lamp, a cup of coffee and photographs of your children without being crowded.
The pieces are multifunctional, move from one room to another easily and serve well wherever they are placed.
The collection includes a mix of textures and fabrics and structural materials including wood, bamboo, leather, iron and glass. It’s almost colonial.
There is an iron bed with a cracked oatmeal finish, a beautiful marble-topped chest with open metal front and glass shelves that would be at home in a foyer, living or dining room, or the bedroom.
There are both dark and light finishes in the collection. Some pieces are very simple, others are carved.
Washed cranberry and gold, teal and English rose and antique white are colors included in the upholstery, and the washed damasks, linens, chenilles -- feel-good fabrics that are very important to someone who models clothes.
You can tell the line is designed by someone who likes to think about how a fabric feels and drapes.
Who Makes Kathy Ireland Furniture?
Kathy Ireland Furniture is made by Vanguard, a well known furniture maker. Ireland collaborated with them on the designs and sketches, but they ultimately created the popular line.
That was 10 years ago and the line is still going strong thanks to classic design and timeless style.
